Review - Insurgent by Veronica Roth

And so the saga continues!

Reading frenzy?  Yes that pretty accurately describes the mode I’ve been in here lately after reading Divergent.  How did I NOT read these when they first came out?  They’re great!

So I’ve just finished reading Insurgent:  Book Two in the Divergent series.  I swear I think this series gets better and better with each book.  You still have all the action packed craziness that the last book left you with, but in Insurgent there is SO much more.

Four and Tris are still our main characters, who have escaped with a group of friends into Amity territory.  They’ve been housed there, they are being kept safe, and everything seems to be going as well as can be expected.  But they can’t stay in hiding forever…that wouldn’t be a very Dauntless thing to do now would it?

Tris is having one heck of a time dealing with the events from the previous book.  If you haven’t read Divergent, (why are you reading this if you haven’t), I won’t give any spoilers as to what happened but, let’s just say that Tris had one heck of a decision to make.  Because of such a decision, nightmares abound for her.  She can barely even pick up a gun without having flashbacks.  That doesn’t exactly help her when everything goes to heck in a handbasket…

Added to the fact, her relationship with Four is…well…a little strained and both are very much suspicious of each other.  Four constantly chastises her for her actions and her decisions and rightly so.  He doesn’t want to see the girl he cares about go off and die somewhere.  Tris has withdrawn into her mind so much that, she doesn’t see it that way.  Instead she just wants to make sure that no one else dies because of her.

And the Erudite.  Wow…I have so much negative energy filtering towards them during this whole book.  Let’s just say it is REALLY not cool for the people who have the most “knowledge” to use it in the most evil and vindictive ways.

You also get a rather interesting perspective from the Factionless throughout most of the book which is pretty interesting to say the least.

All in all, I gave this book 5 out of 5 stars on GoodReads and I cannot wait to pick up Allegiant to find out what ultimately happens.  I will admit that I have heard mixed reviews on Allegiant and that something really tragic happens…

I will not be amused if what I think happens, happens… L  Just saying.

Anyway…if you’d like to pick up your copy of Insurgent, please feel free to click one of the links below as each website will have the books.

Also if you’ve read the Divergent series, let me know what you thought in the comments below.  I’m interested to see what you guys think!

Fun fact – There is a Box Set of the books floating around online that has 4 novels?  Apparently there’s a book of short stories about Four in it?  How awesome is that?!

Alright guys, thanks so much for checking out my review and, as always, “Spread the joy of reading.  Lives can change with the turn of a page!”

See ya! J
