What a crazy reading month April was for me! Wow!
I did a lot of unintended reading and knocked out a pretty substantial number of books from my TBR. I ended up reading a total of 8 books in the month of April. Without further ado...here they are:
The Beast (A Black Dagger Brotherhood Novel) by J. R. Ward -
I'm not going to even lie, I would read ANYTHING J. R. Ward writes. Of course the brothers she writes about, have stolen my heart and won't let it go. The novels of the Black Dagger Brotherhood are all full of intense emotions, action, romance, and kick-ass males...and females! You definitely won't be disappointed by a J.R. Ward book and I mean...this book is about Rhage and all I can say is that is one FINE male.
Rating: 5 out of 5 stars, though I would totally rate it higher if I could!
All The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven -
If you've seen my previous review of this book, you will know that it holds a very special place in my heart. It actually broke my heart completely and left me speechless once I'd finished it. There isn't anything bad I can say about this book. All I can say is that you are definitely better off for reading it.
Rating: 5 out of 5 stars (Bring the tissues!)
Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins -
So after reading something so heart-wrenching as All The Bright Places, I felt I needed something light-hearted and fun to brighten the mood. Anna and the French Kiss did NOT disappoint. Once again, I have already posted a review for this book and its easy to say that I fell in love with it.
Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars
City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments #1) by Cassandra Clare -
I will admit, this is totally a reread for me. I have found that I definitely wanted to get back into the Shadowhunter world before reading Lady Midnight. Of course this means undertaking a total of 10 books within the Mortal Instruments series and The Infernal Devices series (as well as Magnus Bane), but I know I can do it!! ;)
Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars
The Duff by Kody Keplinger -
I hate to say this but, this definitely was not a favorite of mine. I found the characters very static and the interest in the story was completely nonexistent. I found myself completely disliking the main character, though there were a few funny moments, the rest left me with a bad taste in my mouth.
Rating: 2.5 out of 5 stars
Fire Touched (Mercy Thompson, #9) by Patricia Briggs -
This is another author I am a HUGE fan of. I love the world that Patricia Briggs has created and I absolutely love Mercy's kickass attitude. However...this book left me wanting more. More from the story and more from Mercy herself. Her usual attitude and flare of things just didn't seem to be there in this most recent novel. I'm still a fan, with the hopes that the next book gives me more.
Rating: 4 out of 5 stars
The Shock of the Fall by Nathan Filer -
The premise of this story, really drew me in. I was hooked from what I knew and I couldn't wait to delve into such a thought provoking and psychologically driven novel. Then I started reading it and realized...the pull that I was feeling, wasn't really there. I actually DIDN'T enjoy this novel at all like I thought I would. I'll have more in a review later on but for now...
Rating: 3 out of 5 stars
Simon Vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli -
And then this novel happened. Guys, I won't even lie...I LOVED this novel. I found myself smiling like an idiot through almost the whole ending. If you haven't read this, you should totally make it a point. The characters are funny and easy to relate to and the story reads like a well versed play. I fell in love with Simon and his mysterious "pen-pal" and couldn't get enough once I finished the book.
Rating: 5 out of 5 stars (Make sure to enjoy some Reese's and some Peanut Butter cups while reading this novel!!)
And that's it! I had a hit and miss month in April and now that we are in May I am well on my way through all the great new books that are coming out this month! I'd love to know what you all read in the month of April as well. Let me know down below in the comments!
Happy Reading!! :)
