“Dante Walker is
flippin’ awesome, and he knows it. His
good looks, killer charm, and stellar confidence have made him one of Hell’s
best – a soul collector. His job is
simple: weed through humanity and label
those round rears with a big red good or bad stamp. Old Saint Nick Gets the good guys, and he
gets the fun ones. Bag – and – tag.” - Blurb from ‘The Collector’ by Victoria
Scott
Whew…Dante Walker…my oh my.
So, I’ll be honest, I have a thing for bad boys in my
literature. There’s Zsadist in J.R. Ward’s
Black Dagger Brotherhood Series. There’s
Kishan in Colleen Houck’s Tiger’s Curse Series.
Then there’s Dante…my new favorite obsession.
To put it simply, Dante is a soul collector who seals souls
to be collected and sent to Hell. He’s
definitely good at what he does and he knows it. He’s a badass with great looks and a killer
smile and that ‘do whatever he wants’ attitude.
Oh…and he has an aversion to cats and he’s a germaphobe. Two facts of which he’s not readily willing
to admit. After all…he’s perfect.
Then there’s the occasional assignment he has to deal
with. Enter Charlie Cooper. Boy was Dante NOT expecting her…or what
happens during his assignment to tarnish her soul for the complete purpose of
sealing it to Hell. Oh…and he has to
collect her soul in ten days or less.
Challenge…accepted.
Upon meeting Dante, Charlie is thrust into a world that she’s
never really known. She’s kind of a nerd
and isn’t used to such hot guys talking to her and associating with her. That doesn’t change her mind at all about
hanging out with him. In fact, she’s
willing to go with whatever crazy idea he comes up with next, even the idea
that he’s some sort of “Angel”. Yeah…Dante
lies about that too.
Throughout this whole story, you have your high school nerdy
girl who gets teased constantly by the popular girls, and really only wants to
fit in. Dante offers a solution to that
and, even though a bit skeptical at first, she runs with the notion after a
while. What happens next…you’ll have to
read to find out!
I absolutely LOVED this book. It’s the first in a trilogy of novels about
the one and only, Dante Walker, and I couldn’t have been more thrilled to read
through the entire book. I could barely
put it down. In fact, I think I finished
it in a few hours…it was that good. And really,
it’s Dante…of course it’s going to be good!
The author, Victoria Scott, really jumped into the mindset
of Dante and really let the humor and total bad boy routine take off. I laughed a lot throughout this book,
especially with the antics between Dante and his best friend Max, and yes…there
were a few heart tugging moments included as well. Who knew Dante had a soft side!? (Not readily admitted either!)
I will definitely be picking up the rest of this trilogy to
get my fix for Dante, and you should to! The Dante Walker Novels are: The Collector, The Liberator, and The Warrior. If you’re interested in picking up the series, he is available at:
Thanks again you guys for taking time out to read my
review. If you’ve read Dante, please let
me know what you thought in the comments below and as always: “Spread the joy of reading! Lives can change with the turn of a page!”
See ya next time! J
