How do you follow up a darn near amazing debut novel? You write the sequel of course!
So, coming out of Gilded, I was left with a sense of wanting
more. More from the story, more from the
characters, and more from the series in general. Christina Farley did NOT disappoint! From action and mystery, to Korean mythology
and an ever growing romance, this book had it all.
Silvern by
Christina Farley, is the second novel in the Gilded series. We once again
join up with Jae Hwa right after the events from the previous book. She’s trying to get on with her life and lead
a more normal life, even knowing all that she now knows. She’s defeated a great and terrible enemy and
she’s found someone that she can really lean on and care for…and who cares
deeply for her as well.
I will admit, Marc kind of irritated me through this
book. While well placed, his constant
worry and over-protection of Jae Hwa, really got in the way of the story for
me. In fact, I found myself liking
Kang-dae more than Marc! Well…at least
until I knew who he really was.
After a VERY short reprieve of normalcy, Jae Hwa is once
again thrust into the Spirit World craziness that is quickly consuming her
life. She’s taken on another adventure,
this time to find a precious set of orbs that have the power to bring about
great peace or terrible destruction. She
must find these before Kud, the big bad whose after said orbs, can get to
them. Add in dragons and some kick butt
fight scenes, and you’ve got just a brief glimpse of what this book truly has
in store for you.
Honestly, I was drawn into Jae Hwa’s world much more so in
this book than in the first. With each
adventure, the pull of the mythology written within, and a kick butt female
protagonist, I am fully immersed in the Gilded
world.
If you haven’t had a chance to pick up Gilded and Silvern, I highly suggest you do so! You will not be disappointed! I gave this book a 4.25 out of 5 stars on
GoodReads. If you have read this series,
please let me know in the comment section down below.
Also, tune in tomorrow as I have a VERY special surprise for
everyone regarding this series!
Thanks everyone for taking time out to read my review and,

See ya! J
